Privacy Policy — LatexCV Web App & Chrome Extension

This Privacy Policy explains how LatexCV (https://latexcv.ai.studio) and the official LatexCV Chrome Extension collect, use, store, and protect your information when you generate AI-tailored LaTeX resumes and PDF CVs.

1. Single Purpose

The LatexCV Chrome Extension has a single purpose: to allow authenticated LatexCV users to highlight job description text on any webpage, right-click "Generate LatexCV", and automatically tailor, compile, and download an ATS-ready PDF resume in the background using their saved LatexCV profile.

2. Data We Access and Collect

We access and process only the minimum data strictly necessary to provide our resume generation service:

• Account & Authentication Information: Your email address and Firebase Authentication session tokens (identitytoolkit.googleapis.com / securetoken.googleapis.com) used to verify your account and sync your profile.
• Resume & Customization Settings (Personally Identifiable Information): Your Master CV text, contact details included in your resume, custom prompt rules, section inclusion preferences, and typography/color settings saved in your LatexCV account.
• API Configuration & Quota Metadata: Your configured AI provider keys (such as Google Gemini, OpenRouter, OpenAI, or Logfare) and daily usage counters synced between the web application and Chrome extension.
• User-Selected Website Content: Only the specific job description text that you actively highlight on a webpage when you explicitly right-click and click "Generate LatexCV". The extension does not passively monitor browsing history, read unrelated page content, or track your activity across websites.

3. How Your Data Is Used and Stored

• Local Browser Storage: Your authenticated session, Master CV, customization settings, and active job progress are cached locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local and localStorage for fast background execution.
• Cloud Synchronization: Your profile data and API priority settings are stored securely in Google Cloud Firestore (firestore.googleapis.com) scoped strictly to your authenticated Firebase User ID (uid).
• AI Resume Tailoring & LaTeX PDF Compilation: When you initiate a CV generation request, your Master CV and the highlighted job description are sent over HTTPS (`TLS`) to your selected AI provider (or the LatexCV /api/generate-cv service) to produce tailored LaTeX code, and then sent to https://latexcv.ai.studio/api/compile-pdf to compile and return a downloadable PDF file to your browser. Ephemeral compilation payloads are discarded immediately after the PDF is returned.

4. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome Extension APIs adheres strictly to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:

• We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside of the explicit user-initiated AI generation and PDF compilation requests described above.
• We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose of generating tailored resumes.
• We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions Explained

• contextMenus: Adds the "Generate LatexCV" action when you right-click highlighted job description text.
• storage: Stores your synced Master CV, customization preferences, and active generation timer locally in the browser.
• downloads: Automatically saves the compiled PDF resume (<Candidate_Name>_<Job_Title>_CV.pdf) to your computer.
• offscreen: Converts the compiled PDF binary stream into a downloadable Blob URL inside Manifest V3.
• alarms: Keeps the background service worker responsive while waiting for AI generation and LaTeX compilation to complete.
• activeTab & scripting: Reads multi-line highlighted job description text on the current tab when you click "Generate LatexCV" and syncs your profile from an open LatexCV web app tab.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You have full control over your data at all times:

• Clear Extension Data: Click the Sign Out button inside the LatexCV Chrome Extension popup or uninstall the extension to immediately wipe all locally cached data in chrome.storage.local.
• Delete Cloud Profile Data: Sign in at https://latexcv.ai.studio to edit, clear, or delete your saved Master CV, API keys, or account data.
